The training “Forest Bathing Instructor with Seniors” in detail

CONTENTS

The training for Forest Bathing Instructor with Seniors, focusing on grief counseling and dementia care, is specifically designed to consciously accompany individuals in grief processes or in hospice care and to provide new stimuli for individuals with dementia.

For individuals with dementia, this is achieved through targeted sensory training and the conscious experience of nature. The senses are stimulated in various ways, allowing them to focus on what is possible for them, with deficits taking a back seat. Additionally, the senses are strongly connected to human memory. During forest bathing, we focus on the sense of touch, diverting attention away from cognitive functions. Particularly for individuals with dementia, who may experience a decline in cognitive abilities, the senses become even more important.

In grief processes, we address topics such as death, hospice care, and mourning in various ways. In end-of-life care, we consider both sides – those who are being accompanied and those who are providing support. Here, we focus particularly on mindfulness, with special exercises such as developing a personal grief path (as a project work) or grief theater in the forest, creating a calm atmosphere that is relaxing for both sides. Forest bathing can support individuals in giving space to their grief, allowing them to cope with it rather than suppressing it.

PROCESS

1 x 5-day full-time on-site seminar or as two separate modules: 1 x 3 days, 1 x 2 days. Practical examination at the end of the intensive weeks with presentation and teaching demonstration.

CONCEPT

The forest provides us with a wonderful environment to accompany seniors through their various age-related processes. Through sensory training with individuals with dementia, new horizons can be created. By consciously observing different stages of grief and actively accompanying them, the grieving process can be better understood and more easily coped with.
