The Advanced Module in Detail

Advanced module designed for trained “Forest Bathing Course Leaders” (including externally trained instructors) with a focus on the use of forest bathing in end-of-life and grief support, as well as in hospice care. This is an offering for course leaders professionally or voluntarily engaged in hospice and grief support, or personally affected as relatives or acquaintances.

CONTENT

In this seminar, we approach the topics of hospice, dying, and grief in two different ways. In the realm of end-of-life care, we focus on both the person being accompanied and the caregiver. We’ll explore how we can support both through invitations from forest bathing practice. Central to our work here is the theme of mindfulness. Through mindfulness exercises and forest encounters, we can create a relaxed and calm atmosphere that benefits both individuals.

Grief is omnipresent even in end-of-life care. Unfortunately, our modern society doesn’t often leave room for grief. A grieving person is expected to “function” soon after a loss. Grief gets suppressed, leading to heightened stress and potentially fears and depression. How can forest bathing gently support someone in grief?

TARGET AUDIENCE

This offering is for Forest Bathing Course Leaders who are professionally or voluntarily involved in hospice and grief support, or personally affected as relatives or acquaintances.

GOAL

Forest Bathing Course Leaders understand that judgment has no place in forest bathing. This seminar addresses this aspect: grief demands respect. In forest bathing, the grieving individual can be who they are, feel what they feel. Grief also entails letting go to eventually, gradually embark on a new beginning. Nature outside demonstrates how this can work. Additionally, outdoors, we realize that healing processes in nature are never rushed – the forest has infinite time. Time that grieving individuals should also allow themselves. This is where slow, mindful strolling is particularly beneficial. Energy returns slowly too.

CONCEPT

In this training, we delve into the various stages of grief and develop suitable exercises and invitations. Additionally, we discuss how to handle special situations and identify our boundaries.

This training is not a grief counseling certification but rather explores one form of support.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Immediately preceding this advanced module, the “Forest Bathing for Elderly People with Dementia” advanced module takes place in direct connection. Together, these modules form the training for Forest Bathing Course Leaders for Seniors, also available as an intensive course (5 days).
